Amazon Alexa
Amazon Alexa also simply known as Alexa, is a virtual assistant capable of voice interaction, shaped like a portable speaker with blue light on the edge of the top when it's on. It can do lots of things, such as: music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic, sports, and other real-time information such as the news.
Alexa can control several smart devices using itself as a home automation system. One of the most innovative Alexa skill is “Alexa Guard”. It listens for signs of trouble such as glass breaking or your smoke alarm going off. Then, the Alexa app will notify you when it hears anything suspicious, which might be faster when you're out of the house. Amazon also provides Alexa Guard Plus, which is essentially a beefier version of the Alexa Guard. Not only will Alexa alert you when it senses a problem, it will contact authorities for you, too. But it will cost fifty dollars per year, for the professional monitoring service around.
Most devices with Alexa allow users to activate the device using a weak-word (such as Alexa or Amazon); other devices (such as the Amazon mobile app on ios or android and Amazon Dash Wand) required the user to push a button to activate Alexa's listening mode. Although, some phones also allow the user to say a commands such as “Alexa” or “Alexa wake”. Currently, interaction and communication with alexa are available only in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Hindi.
There have been many rumors that Alexa is listening to every conversations at home, and conspiracies were spreading about Alexa working for the government. The answer to those rumors is no. Alexa is designed with the owner's privacy in mind. It is only listening when you call its name and the blue light lit.
So, in November 2018 Amazon had more than 10,000 employees working on Alexa related products. In January 2019, Amazon's device team announced that they had sold over 100 million Alexa-enabled devices.
And that is all for my reports speech today about technology (Amazon Alexa).
Thank you
